If you're planning to apply for Tasmania State Nomination, there is an important update.
Tasmania has officially confirmed that its 2026–27 Skilled Migration State Nomination Program will open on 17 August 2026, with weekly invitation rounds commencing from 20 August 2026.
What's changed?
New ROI priority attributes and selection criteria have been introduced.
Applicants may receive greater recognition for longer periods of employment in Tasmania.
The TSE Gold priority attribute now requires at least 30 hours of work per week in a single position.
⚠️Importantly, Tasmania will not invite applicants through the Offshore Subclass 491 Overseas Skilled Occupation Profiles pathway during the 2026–27 program year.

If you already have a Registration of Interest (ROI), it may be worthwhile reviewing whether the new priority settings improve your ranking. In some cases, withdrawing and submitting a new ROI may be beneficial.
Now is also the time to ensure your:
• Skills Assessment remains valid;
• English test results are current;
• Expression of Interest (EOI) is accurate and up to date; and
• Tasmania migration strategy is reviewed before invitations commence.
If you're considering Tasmania as your pathway to permanent residence, obtaining advice before the program opens could make all the difference.
