If you were planning to apply for State Nomination through New South Wales or Queensland, there is an important update.
Both NSW and Queensland have now filled their available nomination allocations for the 2025–26 program year, meaning no new State Nomination applications are currently being accepted under these programs.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧?
✔️ New applications are closed for the current NSW and Queensland nomination programs.
✔️ Existing nomination applications that have already been lodged will continue to be assessed by the relevant State Government.
𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭?
Both NSW and Queensland have confirmed they will announce their 2026–27 nomination criteria and reopening arrangements once they receive their new nomination allocations from the Australian Government.
At this stage, no official reopening date has been announced.
𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
Now is the ideal time to prepare for the next intake by ensuring your:
• Skills Assessment remains valid;
• English test results are current;
• Expression of Interest (EOI) is accurate and up to date; and
• Skilled migration strategy is reviewed.
A program closure does not mean your migration journey is over. Depending on your circumstances, alternative pathways may still be available, including other State or Territory nominations, regional visas, or employer-sponsored options.
